More Than Just Football.
Take The Next Step was created to give young players more than football coaching. We want every child to feel supported, understood and genuinely confident in their ability, on the pitch and off it.
It starts with the player, not the drill. We work out what each child needs first, then build the football around them.
Behind It All
Our founder and lead coach, Val, built Take The Next Step around the two things he knows best: helping young people grow, and the game of football.
Val holds an MSc in Psychology and has taught children of every age, from reception through to sixth form. He understands that every child develops differently, and that the right encouragement at the right moment can shape the person as much as the player.
A UEFA B qualified coach, Val has played, coached and managed at men’s first and second team level, so real technical detail and game understanding run through every session.
Bringing those two sides together is what makes us different. Val leads the coaching himself, so every child enjoys their football, develops real skills, and builds the confidence, resilience and discipline that last long after the final whistle.
